The Seven ‘I Am’ Statements from Jesus

The Seven ‘I Am’ Statements from Jesus
6 September, 2024

Jesus made this statement seven times in the Book of John

God had centuries earlier revealed Himself to Moses with the decisive statement, “I AM” (Exodus 3:14).

Then, centuries later, Jesus used the same name (I AM) in the Gospel of John to describe Himself.

“I am the bread of life”. John 6:35

“I am the light of the world.” John 8:12

“I am the door of the sheep.” John 10:7-9

“I am the good shepherd.” John 10:1114

“I am the resurrection and the life.” John 11:25

“I am the way, the truth, and the life.” John 14:6

“I am the true vine.” John 15:1-5

Whenever Jesus said, “I am” he was pointing his listeners towards Himself as God of the Old Testament Scriptures that prophesied His coming.
