The Book of Philippians

The book of Philippians in the New Testament is a letter written by the Apostle Paul to the Christian church in the Macedonian city of Philippi. Paul’s joy and positive message of hope appears over and over in this book that he wrote from a Roman prison.

About ten or eleven years before he was imprisoned in Rome, Paul established the church in Philippi during his second missionary tour.

What is said to be the first church hymn is found in Chapter 1, called the Christ Hymn.

And the Messiah Poem appears in Chapter 2.
