What Christ Has Done
The Book of Colossians is named for the city of Colossae, where the church was located. Colossae was a city in Phrygia, in the Roman province of Asia Minor (part of modern Turkey).
Black wool and dyes (made by nearby chalk deposits) were important products for Colossae.
The church was founded by Epaphras and others from Paul’s missionary travels. The church had some believers attempting to combine paganism, with Christian doctrine. Paul wrote this letter to confront these false teachers and calling them to start having a relationship with God through Jesus. Paul’s Colossians letters are about what Christ has done and what Christians should be doing.
