The Book of Ezra
Ezra was a priest, a scribe, and a great leader. His name means “help”, and his whole life was dedicated to serving God and God’s people.
According to Jewish tradition, Ezra wrote most of 1st and 2nd Chronicles, the Book of Ezra, Nehemiah, and Psalm 119. Also that he led the council of 120 men who compiled the Old Testament.
Ezra showcased his leadership skills by leading a group of Jews into Jerusalem from Babylon after two caravans of God’s people were brought there by Zerubbabel to rebuild the Temple. During the first 58 years of the first group being in Jerusalem, the prophets Haggai and Zechariah, and then Ezra led in the second group of Jews.
