The Writers who Wrote About the Messiah’s Birth

Matthew – begins his account by giving Jesus’ genealogy. Then an angel visits Joseph and tells him that the child within Mary is from the Holy Spirit, and you will call him Jesus. He wrote about visitors arriving from the Eastern Lands and Joseph is told by an angel to escape to Egypt. Later in another dream, an angel tells Joseph to return to Nazareth. Matthew 1:1-2:23 Luke – wrote using eyewitnesses accounts and talking to Mary. Luke opens with an angel visiting Zechariah in the Temple and then the angel visits Mary, who conceives a child by the Holy Spirit. Elizabeth’s miracles birth of John the Baptist. Mary gives birth in Bethlehem and angels announce the joyous event to shepherds. Eight days after Jesus’ birth, Simeon and Anna at the Temple confirm Jesus as the Savior, their Messiah. Luke 1:1-2:40
